Did you know that a teacher’s average hourly pay in the United States is under $15? It is concerning that many teachers are being paid less than their students who work at part-time jobs. Instructors are abandoning their employment as a result of this unfair circumstance. Teachers seem to be the lowest-paid professionals who need a degree to do their job. Educators are the backbone of our civilization. Without them, society would be unstable. In this essay, I will be discussing why teachers are of great importance to our society and why teachers deserve higher pay than what they are earning now.

First of all, it can be asserted that teachers pave the way for all other professions. To get a clearer image, teachers are responsible for observing the students in their class to help with the purpose of choosing their career plans. Despite all the effort these teachers put in, they are still underpaid and underappreciated. They also deal with difficult kids, participate in conferences and meetings outside of school hours, and spend their summer vacations instructing students at summer school. Many teachers just simply quit because they can no longer deal with the harassment and constant attention needed for the job. Some teachers have to get another job to maintain themselves and their families, and some have to get government benefits (food stamps and healthcare).

In addition, there are many reasons why this unjust system for teachers should be changed. Regardless of the hardships that they face, they still go to work, even if their mental health is on the floor. Some poor teachers were forced into a spot where they had to take antidepressants to continue their work in this department. Raising teacher pay is the least we can do for our educators. 8% of teachers leave the profession entirely due to not having enough pay. When teachers get paid more, the students, surprisingly, do better. Studies have shown that a 10% increase in teacher pay was estimated to produce a 5% to 10% increase in student performance. Higher pay could also attract well-informed candidates for the job and inspire students to pursue a career as a teacher.

Restaurant and retail industry salaries are on a constant rise in response to competition and competitive environments. Teachers are feeling very discouraged about their salaries and how they could get more money somewhere else. It’s fantastic to be a lawyer, doctor, or engineer, but none of it would be possible without a teacher’s insight. Most bachelor's degree graduates make far more than teachers, and teaching is one of the lowest-paying professions. I believe that experimenting with educator compensation is one of the most sensible solutions to this immoral dilemma. We can make studies and determine if it's working by offering a slight raise. I also feel that our district should put together a small group for teachers who are struggling mentally to try and help with their problems.

If something isn't done about this situation soon, instructors will be expected to quit. So many protests and walkouts are taking place that are completely unnecessary and can be resolved. If we paid our educators more, we wouldn't have such a hard time finding qualified candidates.Students will be inspired to pursue a job in education, making sure that the future America will still have our greatly needed teachers. Raising the pay would give that little boost to push these teachers to really do their jobs with heartfelt intentions.
