Foodborne Illness Essay Example

Food borne illnesses are caused by consuming contaminated foods or beverages that can be dangerous and life threatening. In these two articles one states problems about food safety were as article two food illness . In these two essays I have read I think the No essay is the strongest. 

One reason I think the no article is stronger is because it shows first hand what happens when you get these illnesses as the yes article just shows you how they're trying to fix it. Actually in the no article it shows how 2 year old Ashley Armstrong became gravely ill from eating contaminated spinach  and how she would require a “kidney transplant and rigorous  lifelong medical attention to counter the devastating effects of being infected with E coli bacteria.” In addition it is said in this article that “Part of the problem is that U.S. food-safety laws are quite old. Most were drafted a century ago, after Upton Sinclair's novel The Jungle exposed filthy conditions in meat-processing plants.” According to the no article it also gives you stats saying 76 million Americans get sick, 325,000 are hospitalized, and 5,000 people die as a result of foodborne illness.

In these two essays I believe the No essay is the stronger of the two I've read. Foodborne infections are hazardous and life-threatening illnesses that are caused by ingesting contaminated foods or beverages. Overall i think this essay might help someone who wants to learn more about foodborne illnesses and sicknesses.
