School Uniform Argument Essay Example
Since 1962, Harbor Day School students have had to wear uniforms to school. The students never got a say in what they wear. For Example, every student feels like just another HDS student and aren’t able to be who they want to be or show everyone who they actually are out of school. Also, the uniforms at HDS are not comfortable and many students wish they could be comfortable which will make them focus better. And the uniforms at HDS aren’t clothes students will wear out of school and are really expensive. Harbor Day School should eliminate uniforms so students will be able to express who they are, be more comfortable, and not have to pay the big fee for uniforms.
Harbor Day School should eliminate uniforms so students can express themselves. The students feel like they are nobody special because of the uniform, says Catherine Peet’s of the Eighth grade. Not only do all students of the HDS have to wear uniforms but also HDS gives infractions for having the wrong socks or not having a belt. As a result of all infractions given, students can get a Friday after school detention and write an essay about how the student disrespected the school. It has gotten to the point where a boy got a Friday after school detention for an untucked shirt. In fact, this student already has two infractions for untucked shirts. Also, if students could just wear their favorite color or favorite football team other students will respect that and see who they actually are. Harbor Day School should eliminate uniforms so students can express themselves.
Harbor Day School should eliminate uniforms so students can be more comfortable and be able to focus more. “Being comfortable is one of the most important things to me.” Says Everett Welton of the Eighth Grade. The key to succeeding in a school day is a comfort. Teachers may say that comfy clothes are distractions but are they really. Clothes are just clothes and there is no other way to say it. Picture this, you are sitting in English class and all of a sudden you get an itch and then a sneeze. You finally get back to focusing when you hear your teacher say test Thursday on what I just talked about. You just got an F because of your uniform. Now picture this, you are sitting in English class and you feel relaxed and satisfied and hear about the test you are going to get an A on. Harbor Day School should eliminate uniforms so students will be more comfortable.
Harbor Day School should eliminate uniforms because they are really expensive and not clothes students will wear out of school. The students just throw their uniforms in the hamper right when they get home on Friday and don’t see it until Monday morning. The uniforms have been the same since my dad went to school at HDS. HDS should keep up with the trends that are going around. The students have to wear plaid and khakis. They should be able to wear jerseys and sweatpants and just be comfortable. Harbor Day School should eliminate uniforms because they are really expensive and they are not clothes students will wear out of school.
Harbor Day School should eliminate the uniform policy so students can express themselves, be comfortable, and not have to pay the big fee to wear the uniform they don’t want to wear. Students will get to express themselves and show everyone who they actually are out of school. Then students will be more comfortable in class which will help them focus more on more than asks, and finally, students won't have to pay a big fee to wear the uniforms. HDS should eliminate uniforms so students can express themselves, be comfortable, and not have to pay the big fee to wear the uniforms.
