Homelessness is defined as a condition in which people do not have access to permanent housing. The number of homeless people in the world has increased dramatically during the last decade. Homeless people are unable to find and keep a safe and secure home to meet their basic needs. Homelessness is a complex issue that is influenced by a variety of circumstances, including social status, economics, and geography. Homeless people are prone to sickness, poverty, and crime, all of which can harm their well-being. Governments all over the world are attempting to tackle homelessness by partnering with private individuals and groups to provide adequate and safe shelter for homeless people. Nearly all the cities in crisis have one policy in common, which is housing first. But providing housing is not the only problem here. Around 40% of the homeless are addicts, with another 25% suffering from serious mental illness. This is one of the reasons why some shelters sit vacantly. Providing proper healthcare, sanitation, and finding the central pace of these issues are also important. Providing housing and not providing any type of services and treatments is not the solution. Cities spend billions of dollars to address this issue, but homelessness is a severe problem that must be addressed in inventive and effective ways. The major cause of homelessness are drug addiction and mental illness, and unless those issues are addressed, homelessness can never be eradicated. Homelessness has "emerged as a global human rights catastrophe," according to the United Nations. Having a roof over our head is not just a need, but a human right. Shelter, along with food and clothing is essential for health and survival. More than that, it is also necessary for dignity, safety, inclusion, and full involvement in society. The fact that so many people are homeless all around the world is a social and moral disaster. The best way to combat homelessness and achieve good outcomes is to identify the core causes and adopt proactive interventions. It may be combated by ensuring that inhabitants of any country have access to essential social services such as healthcare and education. In order to develop successful policies to address homelessness, government entities should ensure that they have enough data. In addition to sending the addicts to rehabilitation, the homeless should also be given employment opportunities. Many private and non-governmental groups provide homeless people with training to help them become self-sufficient and independent. Adult education programs in reading, life skills, and job training financed by the federal government should be available and accessible to individuals in need. It should cover the foundations of reading job ads, preparing resumes, and filling out applications. In conclusion, the number of homeless people across the globe is staggering, and sadly increasing. Everyone should have a place to call home, and it can be possible by creating the right strategies and implementing them properly.
