Kanye West’s anger is undeniably rude, and disrespectful. This behavior is a perfect example of a modern-day witch hunt. Kanye West has been recently targeting Pete Davidson for “stealing” his ex-wife Kim Kardashian. In this essay, there will be the unraveling of how Kanye West’s behavior has been a modern-day witch hunt because of Kanye West’s use of Instagram, Kanye West’s use in his rap songs, and because of the outrageousness of the situation and in all witch hunts.

Kanye West’s main use of his targeting is located on Instagram. Kanye West has made multiple allegations about Pete Davidson for example, Kanye West posted a picture on Instagram of one of Pete Davidson’s tattoos being a Hilary Clinton tattoo and said that they once dated. “Kanye shared a photo of Pete's Hillary Clinton tattoo, alleging the two once dated.” (Nina Clevenger meme wars). Another example of Kanye West calling out Pete Davidson on these allegations was when Kim Kardashian did not tell Kanye West about the location of their daughter Chicago’s birthday party. “On Saturday, January 15, 2022, Kanye accused Kim of hiding the location of a birthday party for their daughter, Chicago, while he was Live on Instagram.” (Nina Clevenger, birthday party). Kanye West has used Instagram a lot for his witch hunts but it's not the only form of social media he has used.

The Pete Davidson, Kanye West situation is a witch hunt also because of Kanye West’s use of his rap music. Kanye West recently dropped a new song called Eazy. The rap song Eazy is a diss track on Pete Davidson having lyrics like “God saved me from the crash, just so I can beat Pete Davidson's a**.”. The music video is a claymation project of Kanye West kidnapping Pete Davidson, burying him alive, and decapitating him. Kanye West defended all of the hate he was getting by calling it art. He posted on his Instagram “Art is therapy just like this view. Art is protected as freedom of speech. Art inspires and simplifies the world. Art is not a proxy for any ill or harm. Any suggestion otherwise about my art is false and mal intended.“ (Stephanie Soteriou). Kanye West’s behavior has been a little outrageous lately which is a big factor in a lot of witch hunts.

The last reason why the Kanye West, Pete Davidson situation is a witch hunt is that all witch hunts are outrageous and have a lot of reaching for “evidence”. In the crucible, Giles's wife Marath was reading and she was convicted of using witchcraft which is completely outrageous. You could compare this to today's world in the Kanye West, Pete Davidson situation. For example, Kanye West said that Pete Davidson should thank him for letting him have Kim Kardashian when in reality she left him willingly. 

In conclusion, Kanye is being flamboyant and trying to bring attention to this situation and bring people to his side where he is in the wrong. Kanye West’s behavior has been absolutely outrageous and disrespectful. This situation between Kanye West and Pete Davidson is an example of a modern-day witch hunt because of how he is using social media like Instagram to target Pete Davidson, his use of lyrics in his rap songs, and because of how all witch hunts are outrageous since Kanye is being outrageous as well.
