On April 25, as a class, we watched 'Wall-e.' This movie has multiple profound lessons & messages. However, as this paragraph goes on, we will only hit one, the main note.

Wall-e was publicized on June 27, 2008; 14 years later, we still haven't fixed overuse, leading to air pollution/global warming/climate change, and other severe issues.

As we saw in the movie, the whole human population had to move to space to survive. They're still there seven hundred years later; no humans have touched or been on Earth for 70 whole decades. Hoping to find a green plant or something that would tell them it's safe to move back home. Unfortunately, severe, probably long, permanent damage-scarring has been done, making it too late. "Rising toxicity levels have made life 'unsustainable' on Earth" - "Do not return to Earth," said the president. They have failed the (operation) cleanup; they were far too in, and they couldn't go back or fix it.

However, the ship captain in space insisted on trying to do something about this. As he quoted, "I don't want to survive. I want to live!" Our Earth has not yet reached that level of damage, (but) despite that, we need to take immediate action. We still think that we have a lot of time, and it will just get better in the future, like - 'get better on its own.' Sadly, that's not reality; as a matter of fact, our reality is too 'complicated' for us; "I can't just sit here and do nothing. That's all I have ever done" -Captain.

We can't just sit here, wait and do nothing. Sooner or later, it would be too late, and we wouldn't have the same happy ending as the movie did because that's not our reality; we must accept that truth.

This movie connects to the unit(s) we studied in class. We looked over making and using too much stuff and sustainability & unsustainable. These two factors are the reason the Earth got to that point in the movie. But unfortunately, we humans are not aware that it is possible for our whole Earth, every country, every corner to be filled with garbage that it can become unsustainable. If we continue at our rate of waste, we will soon reach that. Globally to date, our world has wasted 8.3 billion tons of garbage and plastic. Scientists estimate that in 2050, our world will go into a serious waste issue – causing other severe consequences.

Another thing we looked over is if you are using a natural resource, like trees, you should replant the amount you used or have a good plan on how this won't affect the environment. A good strategy is an example of FSC and MSC.

Forest Stewardship Council is a company that promotes responsible management of the world's forests by giving a specific logo to paper brands which tells the buying customer that this company has a good plan.MSC is the same thing but promoting fish company's/boats. Therefore MSC and FSC are also excellent examples of sustainable marketing.
