I would like to participate in the FBI teen program because I plan to pursue a career in Criminal Justice after graduation. I believe this program would aid me in gaining an improved sense of what opportunities are available in this field.  I am extremely lucky to have received this opportunity; therefore, I do not intend to waste it.

You might be curious about how I chose the field of Criminal Justice.  Well, this field was not my original intention. For many years, I planned on pursuing a career in the field of Music Education. After difficult reconsideration, I found myself dreading moving forward with this career path. I directed my thinking to a path where I could frequently widen my knowledge as well as obtain new experiences, but also continuously explore my passion. I have never been the type of person to do a job that is laid back or simple, but instead, something interactive along with being fast pace. I know that I have always had a talent for using logic together with reasoning to decipher complex situations. I found myself deeply fascinated by psychology, and how the human mind evolves and transforms throughout someone's lifetime, especially those of serial killers. These skills and intrests then guided me to the field of Criminal justice, however, it was difficult to narrow that down my many choices and become specific. Nevertheless, I started compiling research about college classes I would need to take, then found myself overwhelmed with excitement contrary to fear for my future. After talking with Agent Jason and Agent Dianna Strain about what kind of jobs are available in the FBI, they recommended this program to attain a more detailed list of opportunities along with answers to more questions I may have. I know this kind of career path is not something I should try to figure out on my own, so I want to take advantage of the opportunities at hand.

I will start my first year of college this coming fall at Collin College, and I will be studying to obtain my Associate in Criminal Justice. After that, I plan to enroll at Texas State University to obtain my Bachelor's in Criminal Justice. This FBI Teen program would benefit me academically for the reason that I would know where I can place my focus of study while I am going through college, and it could also help financially. I am hoping that this program could aid in gaining scholarships at a university so that after I graduate, I can focus on my career. My biggest goal is later in life, I will be able to think back and know that I did something that made a difference while also helping people. I want to know that I did something that protected my family, friends, and community. I also believe that it is important to have more women in this line of work so that other girls like myself know not to associate a career in Criminal Justice with being a “man’s job”, instead, a job anyone, regardless of gender, can do. I have been asked several times if I am certain this is the career choice I want to make, but I have never been more certain about what I want my future to look like.
