Role of War in the Modern World Essay Example

Since the beginning of mankind, humans have tried to dominate and control other human beings. Therefore, it was only a matter of time and resources until disputes escalated into highly organized and bloody battles that would span long periods, thus creating the concept of war. A common question that numerous people may ask is: what role does war play in modern times?  

First of all, using war as a tool, some people successfully maintained or expanded their power and influence. Throughout history, influential people have used wars with the main objective of expanding their notoriety, becoming influential or obtaining power in their national government, using the lives of soldiers and civilians as an exchange. Because of this, our current geopolitics are all a direct consequence of past wars and tragic events. As a result, there is no doubt that current conflagrations will alter the global power structure.  

Secondly, wars can ease our ordinary lives. We should remember that wars played a significant role in the development of modern technologies. Most of the budget armies allocate ends up in research and development, thanks to which people can now enjoy the existence of computers, the internet, and so forth. In addition, lots of secret technologies will start to appear in our lives and help us live better, when governments decide that other nations can’t capitalize on them.  

To conclude, wars are deeply rooted in our human instincts. Even if they are causing lots of suffering for us, they are continuously playing a significant role in shaping the power in our society, providing us with technologies that are indispensable now, and it is a fact that they will not disappear from our lives in the future.
