Due to this nature, college tuition should be lowered. While lowering the tuition to these places of education could potentially bring on minor issues like universities not making as much money and the esteem of colleges being altered, a large multitude of reasons counter them like how it increases the range of jobs people can do to contribute to the economy while simultaneously increasing the passion for these positions, graduates of these institutes spend years paying off their student debt and how college and further education as a whole are vital to those who want to pursue certain occupations and dreams. Overall, schooling institutes need to be more accepting of the majority’s financial situations, and should lower their tuition.

College dramatically increases the range of jobs people can acquire and contribute to society while also increasing the passion for the subject. For this reason, the tuition tuition to even enter the establishment must be adjusted to an acceptable level that allows more people to enter into the workforce. Those who are able to obtain the knowledge and training needed for certain occupations, will both be able to bring this level of expertise and conduct to their  work lives while also using their previous aspirations of this job to find joy and increase both oneself’s morale and the moods of colleagues and coworkers alike. The population, especially in recent decades, has grown dramatically, with worldwide citizens increasing from 1.6 billion to 6 billion in the 19th century and 6 billion to nearly 8 billion in the first 20 years of the 21st century. The amount of people on this planet has expanded exponentially and the money the economy can provide to these people has thinned with it. This strain can no longer let the average individual afford the ability to go to university, and is therefore limiting the occupations and skills that we as a society have at our disposal.

Post-college students spend years afterwards in debt due to the massive tuition universities ask for. The money people have to borrow to go to university averages around $25,000-$50,000 (specifically $32,731), but in some cases, like in medical and law school, student debt can approach the hundreds of thousands. This statistic has increased by 20-30% in the past few years. This frightening figure tells us that the tuition could keep inflating by the thousands in the following years and make extended education a privilege that can only be afforded by the richest of society. Much of student debt isn’t repaid quickly, sometimes even at all. Even for the people who graduated and completed their education, their overarching debt will consume them for years, even decades, to follow. A study performed in 2018 concluded that amongst over 44 million people with borrowed money for university, a total of 1.5 trillion dollars is owed. This growing issue is becoming a larger problem for more people, subsequently increasing the likelihood of poverty and homelessness.

College is an essential component of most people’s lives and can heavily direct the path one’s life can travel along. Media has extensively influenced the idea of children's dreams of being astronauts, doctors, even chefs. These careers are all obtainable, but all require some form of extended education, e.g. college/university. So how are those in poverty able to allow their children’s dreams to be accomplished when their living cheque to cheque. How are they to tell their children to give up on their dreams because this level of education isn’t attainable for their income? We must allow our children, the next generation of the world, to be able to run after what they want to do with their lives and not let their financial struggles become a barrier to them. In a poll of 10,000 people, 56% stated they could no longer afford the extreme tuition college requires and 7% have gone as far to say that they have been forced to completely unenroll from university and work full time to support themselves. On top of this, the economy, which is becoming increasingly more difficult to contribute to, has pushed families to feed off of each other to live a decently stable lifestyle, making sources of income to even begin saving for further schooling more scarce.

Taking everything into account, it is blatantly obvious that college tuition is astronomically high and should either be lowered or completely taken away from education. Due to a whole number of reasons, a few strong, primary ones including how college is a vital component of continued education and the most important addition to a resume, how post-college students spend years afterwards in debt due to the massive tuition universities ask for and how college increases the range of jobs people can have, can reinforce the fact that universities should make tuition affordable for their students. We must force governments and schooling institutions alike to begin valuing their student body over their income so as to avoid the growing issue that are these payments.
