Did you know that over 110 million animals die per year in laboratories from animal testing? These animals that get tested on have many things that cause them serious pain. The tests can make them go blind. The entire act of animal testing is inhumane. The scientists may drill holes in their skull, or maybe even test eye drops that can make them go blind. Also, there are many alternatives to animal testing that are more accurate in some cases, and they don’t hurt anyone/thing. Finally, animal testing is costly. Animal testing should be banned for the sake of saving the animals' pain, using better and more accurate alternatives, and to save money to have a better product.

Animal testing is inhumane and causes the animals harm for the only reason to help us humans. Animals can feel pain and have their own feelings. If you have a dog, think about how they feel if you accidentally step on its tail or its foot. They whine because they got hurt. Now think about scientists doing that to your dog but to a pain 10 fold. This is happening all around the world. Over 100 million animals have this pain happening nearly constantly. According to Peta, over 110 million animals die per year from animal testing. All of this pain shows the experiences of these animals need to be stopped. Put yourself in these animals' shoes. Would you want to be harmed nearly 24/7? I certainly wouldn’t and I doubt you would either.

People may argue, that animal testing is very accurate, and will help us solve a lot of the problems that need solving. That leads me to my next point that animal testing is very inaccurate. According to The National Library of Medicine, 96% of animal testing end ups failing. These failures also cause people awaiting these cures to have a longer wait. As well as it wastes money and resources. This causes the harm to these animals pointless. Also, these inaccuracies could be fatal to the candidates for human testing. This can endanger all sorts of people, possibly causing pain or even death to these people.  These inaccuracies are usually overlooked by companies. These companies think it’s sufficient enough to just use animals and then transfer them to human volunteers and harm those people.

People may argue saying that animal testing has no alternatives and can’t be replaced accurately, but animal testing does have cheaper and more accurate alternatives. According to the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, there are different types of alternatives to animal testing, one such called vitro methods. Vitro methods are methods that are cell-based or involve biochemical testing. This method is more accurate because scientists grow human cells to see the effect of the product on them. Vitro may mainly be for makeup and skin products, but the scientists, for eye drops, can use the chemicals in the eyes and predict what would happen if it was used in an eye. Another alternative to animal testing is testing on blood. If people donate blood another discovery could be made. One discovery was the discovery of the protein that causes fevers. Dr. Hartung made this discovery by testing on the donated blood, This blood had a protein/toxin in it that caused fevers that he found. He discovered all this by not using animals, but by just using donated blood. These techniques are just a few of what could replace animal testing in the future. This all just shows that animal testing is a waste since it is very replaceable as well as practically useless.

In the end, all of this ties up into a present with a bow tie. This present is as deep as a rabbit hole and as rough and gnarly as the bark of an old tree. All of the animal testing stuff is very archaic as it’s easily replaced, inaccurate, and inhumane. This could all be prevented if animal testing was banned. These animals wouldn’t be used as lab rats, or tested on and hurt.
