Success is hard to achieve, especially for some athletes. Many athletes have many obstacles that they have to get over in order to achieve success. But if that person wants to reach success they must work hard and put in the hours to get there. For example, Messi is a very popular soccer player that has been through many obstacles, but he overcame them to get to where he is now. He enjoys playing because he is a very big role model for the younger kids that want to be like him.

Background

If you do not know about Lionel Andres Messi he was born in Argentiniana and is a soccer player that plays for FC Barcelona and Argentina's national team. He has helped his club team win more than two dozen league titles and tournaments. The position that he plays is forward for both teams. Many know him as one of the greatest soccer players in history. At the age of thirteen he had moved to Spain after FC Barcelona agreed to pay for his medical treatments. Messi has set many a record for the most goals scored in a calendar year. In the year 2016 he was named Europe's Ballon d'or winner for a fifth time. He had many changes he had to face to get where he is now and how to stay there.

Challenges he has faced

Everyone has faced many challenges in their lifetime no matter if it was a small or big challenge it was still a challenge that you had to face or are facing still at this very moment. It can be easy or hard to complete any challenge that comes your way. For example Messi had been diagnosed with growth hormone deficiency at the age of eleven. Growth hormone deficiency is a medical condition that is caused due to not enough growth hormones. It can also be caused by the lack of other hormones known as a combination of pituitary hormones. This condition had required expensive medical treatment, including the drug Human growth hormone. Although one of his local clubs was very interested in signing him, but didn’t want to pay for the medical treatment. But he was given a trial with Barcelona and coach Carles Rexach. He was very impressed and he offered Messi a contract that would pay for his treatment in Spain. He had then moved with his father and became part of the FC Barcelona youth academy.

How he achieved success

In 2004 he was offered a chance to play for Spain’s under 20 side, but he denied to play for Argentina. His first appearance was also in 2004/05 becoming the youngest player to score a league goal. He also led Argentina to victory in 2005 in the FIFA Youth championship. In 2006 he played part of a double winning team who won La Liga, known as a Spanish league and champions league. He also made an appearance in the World Cup also becoming the youngest player to play in the World Cup. Also at the age of twenty he was a first choice striker and an essential part of the Barcelona FC team, a team that he still plays for as a starter. By playing for both of these teams he has been very successful for help leading them to victory and getting them well known.

Messi will most likely go down in history as one of the best soccer players in the world. He has worked hard and has made many sacrifices to get to where he is now. He is one of the many successful soccer players known. He is very inspiring to the younger generation and a leader because he is a very good influence. He is very talented at what he does and enjoys playing
