Child Should Get the COVID-19 Vaccination (Free Essay Sample)

Vaccination using Pfizer-BioNTech for children aged from 5 to 11 against the dreaded Covid-19 virus was started by the health officials on February 7 which is a great step by the government to achieve a Covid-19 free country. 

The vaccine protects children from the virus. Children are prone to sickness which means that they can be easily infected by the Covid-19, hence, they need the vaccine for their safety. The vaccine will serve as an invisible shield for the children wherever they go and it will lower the chances of them being infected. Based on the findings of Health Technology Assessment Council (HTAC), children 5 to 11 years old contributed 3.49% and 0.06% of total Covid-19 cases (3.1 million cases) in the Philippines from March 2020 to January 2022 which even increased during the Omicron wave in January 2022. The number of children infected are high, however, the vaccine can reduce the number of infections for its effectiveness was approved by the Philippines’ Food and Drug Administration wherein it has lower dosage and concentration compared to the vaccine given to youths. In addition, the HTAC also concluded that the potential benefits of the vaccine outweigh the risks. 

Children also face other negative impacts of the virus such as the fear they feel, the sadness they need to go through for their decreased socialization, and the uneasiness they suffer, nevertheless,  the vaccine will not only protect the children physically but also mentally and emotionally. The vaccine will change their fear to cheer, their sadness to happiness, and their uneasiness to gladness.

The vaccine lowers the burden of parents. It is also undeniable that parents worry for their children but the vaccine will relieve their fear from the consequences of  being infected by the Covid-19. This will give them the assurance that their children are backed up by an effective vaccine that was examined and tested by professionals. Besides, they can be at ease knowing that their children are protected by the vaccine.

The vaccine can be a key to reopening of schools. Vaccinated children will be more free and restrictions can be reduced. Interaction among the children can be approved by the government where learning will be face-to-face. Furthermore, the vaccine will also minimize the risk of face-to-face interactions and will lift the disruptions faced by the children in learning. As a result, the psychological, psychosocial and mental health of the children aged 5 to 11 will also be developed.

More importantly, the vaccine is a step towards a Covid-19 free country. Children aged 5 to 11 will soon be completely vaccinated, this means that slowly but surely, with one step at a time, we can achieve a Covid-19 free country. We can already see the light as the vaccine shines in the dark.
