The death penalty shouldn’t be legal because most people are getting killed when they turn 18. Not being able to see any of your family ever again would be a greater punishment than being killed. Being able to murder a murderer should not be ok anywhere because two wrongs don’t make a right. People shouldn’t be murdering people in the first place, but someone doing it back to back every day as a job is just appalling. That goes against any basic human rights. That is still murder so there really is no reason to kill someone ever just let their time go out the way it was intended to and don’t end their life let it naturally happen.

I believe the death penalty shouldn’t be legal because people of color get unfair cases sometimes. Other countries use the death penalty against people with mental and intellectual disabilities and several others apply the death penalty after unfair trials. In clear violation of international law and standards, people can spend years on death row, not knowing when their time is up, or whether they will see their families one last time. “The death penalty is the ultimate cruel, inhuman and degrading punishment.”(Amnesty International). Ending someone's life is a sickening thing to think or do.  Instead of letting them go out on the easy road in a way, let them rot in prison for the rest of their lives.

Family is the one thing that you need in your life. Not being able to see them would be a great punishment because you took someone’s family member away from them and now the prison is doing the same for you and your family. “Kevin Strickland was imprisoned for more than 40 years for crimes he didn’t commit,  he was accused and convicted of murdering 3 people” ( Bill Siemering). If he were to have gotten the death penalty they would’ve killed an innocent man. He wasn’t able to see his daughter for over 40 years and that is horrid. So the death penalty should be abolished because they don’t know if they killed guilty people or innocent ones and quite frankly they don’t care because they keep doing it. There have been and always will be cases of executions of innocent people.

No matter how developed a justice system is, it will always remain susceptible to human failure. Unlike prison sentences, the death penalty is irreversible and irreparable. Killing a person is a horrible thing but you killing a killer and saying it’s justice is just as bad as being the killer. No matter what the circumstances are, killing someone is horrible, and trying to justify it makes it worse. Ending somebody's life has absolutely no justification for it, but being paid and praised to do it, I find that completely absurd. Killing is very wrong and should never happen. I can see how someone wants their friend or family member's killer to suffer like they did but they shouldn’t have to suffer by dying.” The death penalty is incompatible with human rights and human dignity” (“Why the Death Penalty Should Be Abolished – International Commission against the Death Penalty.”). If anything it should be the person’s choice to be on the death row or not because maybe they don’t want to spend the rest of their life locked in a cell but it shouldn’t be someone else's choice on if you live or not, and it wouldn’t be your choice if your victim lived or not.

I am strongly against murder/execution and I think it needs to be abolished for good in all 195  countries. A few of the very harmful ways people get executed are beheading, lethal injection, getting shot, and more. These ways are horrendous and shouldn’t happen to anyone. It is just horrifying and the fact your family could watch it happen is just dreadful. I understand how people can get very mad and upset that their family member's killer would still be alive still but to want them dead and to have them executed is just as if you were killing them yourself, just without any consequences. That seems very hypocritical because you can’t say killing people is against the law and then go and kill them. It just simply isn’t right and should be abolished forever and never thought of again.
