I disagree, creating fake news and purposely spreading it should not be a criminal offense. Some people aren't as fortunate as some and have to create fake news as their job. Freedom of speech is a big thing that should also come into consideration when thinking of new laws similar to these, in our day and age separating fake news from satire can be difficult as most of this generation use satire for day to day communication.

When deciding laws that regard other laws is not something to do nor take lightly, yes creating fake news can damage peoples reputation, it may make people make big decisions that wont help them but whilst there is people creating and spreading false news it is creating venue and attraction for those who make a living out it. Whilst people are creating fake news it is bringing attention to things that aren't true and is taking the attention off things that are true, which can benefit famous people.

Fake news can help multiple things, especially your memory. Once you hear about something it can stay with you or rejog your memory when you hear it again. Fake news is all throughout news and social media platforms, to get rid of it would take a lot more then we can offer, I think making it illegal is excessive and a time wasting. I think that if you do get targeted with a false news claim it gives you attention and attraction to potentially get a new audience whilst recovering and proving the false news wrong.

On a bonus episode with Vaile wright a PhD graduate and another PhD graduate Chrysalis wright, they speak about how fake news can benefit you and the changing world around us, Chrysalis focus on the impact of media entertainment in 2015 to 2017 she stated "fake news started to seem like a term to be thrown around a lot and mostly on day to day conversation. She states that "satire comes into it and blends in with misinformation and spreading perpetrates rumours. She also states "You cannot always assume what you see is fake news, just because it doesn’t line up with your personal views doesn’t mean it is fake news" which just proves that fake news isn't as bad as it is made out to be.

So within this I must say going through all of this evidence and opinions that fake news and spreading it should not be a criminal offense as some people make it into they're day to day job, freedom of speech is a big thing made into this world today and if you don’t respect it your just as bad as the creator of the false news getting spread. Like I said satire and false news are hard to separate as they are both similar and both used in day to day conversations with anyone. So when making laws like these it is not something to do or think about lightly.
