The Greatest Vocalist Louis Armstrong Essay Example

The 20th century produced many instrumentalists and vocalists but Louis Armstrong is the only figure who completely changed the way people played music on their instruments and he completely changed the way people sang. He had a recognizable rich, gravelly voice, Armstrong was also an influential singer, demonstrating great pleasure and deep feelings about the great depression. He made the lyrics and melody of a song for expressive purposes.

Moreover, Thomas Rhett learned how to play drums. His father, Rhett Akins, had his own band where when he felt comfortable enough he would go with his dad and play the drums for him. Mr. Rhett put a band together in high school called The High Heeled Flip Flops. Besides music, Although he loved the music he did not have a career choice in mind. After high school, Rhett went to college at Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee, where he was still not sure what he wanted to do for a profession. He played as a member of Tau Phi for their cowboy show and for frat parties, where he got used to the crowd, he eventually fell in love for the music and became a huge country pop star. 

Furthermore, Mr. Armstrong and Thomas Rhett had many differences in their music, for example, Louis’s songs were usually about the tough times him and fellow African Americans had gone through and how sometimes it wouldn’t get better. And back then he had no teacher to teach him how to sing or play the instruments while Mr. Rhett had a lot of training. While Thomas had a musical family Louis was all on his own he had a natural talent. Both are very thoughtful and intelligent people in the music business and both are well respected as well. As well as being well respected both men loved singing and would sing each and every day without getting tired.

All in all, I believe Louis Armstrong was more influential than Thomas Rhett the sole reason being that many African Americans looked up to Mr. Armstrong and respected him very much. His music helped people go through the Great Depression and it had a lot of meaning behind his songs that most people related to while Thomas Rhett’s songs are mostly about love and pickup trucks while that’s good to listen to it doesn’t benefit nor does it make us feel like we have to make a change in society.
