Due to our world being overcome by technology, reading has become something that we push aside when without a doubt it should be something we do quite frequently. Reading helps develop a person’s mind by promoting a number of benefits. Everyday we should read for at least 15 minutes, because it helps improve general knowledge, vocabulary expansion, and memory improvement. 

Anyone who wants to be an aliterate person able to hold a conversation on a variety of topics, needs to be a reader. Being capable to hold a conversation on numerous of topics takes a lot of knowledge, and what better way to gain this knowledge than from reading  ( We don’t need to read anything particularly serious to pick up some general knowledge of the world and different cultures. By reading, we gain a ton of information that can help us or can just be interesting to us ( Reading more helps us add information to our brains. With more knowledge the better prepared we are to handle all of life’s challenges ( We could lose everything we have in a blink of an eye, but the knowledge we learn from books can never be taken away from us ( Gaining knowledge can be expensive, especially when taking classes or using online software to obtain this information. To save some money, read books from the library where the knowledge is completely free ( Dr Seuss once said, “The more that you read, the more information you’ll know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” ( 

The more we read, the more our vocabulary improves, and the more our vocabulary improves, the better we can express our thoughts and feelings. Reading exposes us to a variety of words with a variety of meanings. People who can use and speak the language with a large vocabulary have always caught the respect from others. The broader our vocabulary is, the better our chance of mental health well into old age ( Being well-spoken is of great help in each profession, and helps increase job performance and self-esteem. A broad vocabulary can even aid in our career, as those who are well-spoken and educated on many topics tend to receive promotions more often than those with smaller vocabularies and lack of knowledge ( Every job involves some form of writing and exposure to well-written work can have a great impact on our your own writing ( Reading every day will help us make the words we read, and the words we speak have a relationship ( . J.K. Rowling once said, “The most important thing is to read as much as you can, like I did. It will give you an understanding of what makes good writing and it will enlarge your vocabulary.” ( 

In order to follow a plot we must remember a great deal. When reading we have got to remember the character’s, their backgrounds, roles, and actions ( We won’t be able to comprehend what we’re reading if we can’t remember certain details that we have read. That’s a lot to remember, but our brains are amazing things and can remember these parts effortlessly. What's amazing is that every new memory we create builds new brain pathways and strengthens existing ones, which assists in short-term memory recall as well as stabilizing moods ( Exercising our brain by mentally challenging ourselves can lead to a slower rate of decline in memory. Reading keeps the brain’s memorizing ability in practice ( Aleks Krotoski once said, “Stories are memory aids, instruction manuals and moral compasses” (

Adler, a popular author in the mid-1900’s explains how a book can change a reader’s life just by reading it. By reading everyday for at least 15 minutes, helps improve general knowledge, vocabulary expansion, and memory improvement. In the growing world of the internet, reading still provides us with a sense of peace that we can’t obtain from a computer. Reading books have always had advantages over watching television or sitting behind a computer. It shows us how to rise in our life and know the most important reasons behind everything.
