“The greatest weapon against stress is the ability to choose one thought over the other” William James. In this article the reader will find out how bad stress can be, how I relieve stress and how the Mayo Clinic thinks are great stress relievers. 

Stress is really bad but a little stress can be good. The health problems stress can cause are surprising. There are a ton of health problems stress can cause like some serious causes like depression and heart attacks and strokes. There are a bunch of other problems it can cause like heart disease, high blood pressure, and cardiovascular disease. Stress is the number one thing that causes headaches with lack of sleep being in second place. The 1st possible cause of a headache is stress. The 2nd possible cause is lack of sleep. The 3rd possible cause is fatigue. The 4th possible cause is hunger. The 5th possible cause is caffeine withdrawal. Stress also can cause insomnia. This happens when you have a change in your sleep schedule or your stress hormone is up. Stress hormone is one key player in fight or flight giving a jolt of energy. 

Now we move on to how I relieve stress. I listen to music because music helps me let out stress and clear my mind, and It also helps my mental health and how I think. I love walking. It helps relieve stress and clear my head and also helps my mental health, and I can walk for hours and never get bored plus it is like meditation. My girlfriend is a good stress reliever. I could sit and talk to her for hours, and never get bored, but sometimes she gets busy or I get busy and we live so far away from each other. My work ethic is usually to get my homework done early so that I don't have to worry about getting it done. Also why not do it early besides the fact that I usually have nothing to do afterward. 

How the Mayo Clinic says to relieve stress. They say to meditate. When you meditate, focus on the jumbled up thoughts and quiet stream of thoughts. Meditation can instill a sense of peace and inner calm and can help with your mental state. Connect with others. Your instinct might be to self isolate but do the opposite and reach out and connect with friends and family. Social contact is a very good stress reliever because it allows people to talk to the ones they care about the most instead of shutting them out. The Mayo Clinic also says to get enough sleep. Stress can cause people to have trouble sleeping because when your mind can’t stop thinking or people have too much to do. The Mayo Clinic says to be creative and musical. Listening to or playing music is a great stress reliever because it can provide a mental distraction, reduce muscle tension and lower stress hormones. 

How I relieve stress and how terrible stress can be. Stress as shown above can be really awful so people need to know how to manage it. Stress can be really terrible but with the right people you can get through anything.
