The song “Where is the love?”by the hip pop group the Black Eyed Peas was the lead single from their album“Elephunk” which sold 9 million copies worldwide and certified 2x platinum in the USA. Noticeably,the song that caught their fans and people all over the globe's attention was “where is the love?’’which address many issues like war, racism and terrorism going on in the world.In the song The Black Eyed Peas point out many graphics and disturbing facts about how the people are slowly destroying the planet and do not take any actions to change the social situations in our society.Throughout the tune the artist plays with song structures to grab a wider audience.The lyricist believes the lack of humanity in society, discrimination among ourselves and corruption of the media is the reasons for all the chaos in our world today.

The writers believe that lack of humanity is one of the reasons why there is so much resentment in our world by saying “People killing, people dying, children hurting’’(line 18-19). They want to demonstrate how cruel and destructive mankind has become and then specify how war has ruined the world  by saying “Nations dropping bombs/Chemical gasses fillin' lungs of little ones/With ongoing suffering as the youth die young”(34-36). This aggressive line wants the public to think about suffering families around the globe.The lyricist also stated those words,“As I'm getting older, y'all, people get colder most of us only care about money making”(62-63). This line indicates the unsympathetic and egocentric side of human which leads discrimination and other social issues among the nations.

Further, the writer mentions discrimination as urgent issues in our current society that need to address and solve between us by quoting “if you only have love for your own race/then you only leave space to discriminate/and to discriminate only generates hate”(9-11). Those lines indicate how disintegrate the nation is and it also points out how selfishness will only bring negative results at the end.The lyricist continues on to explain how some political organization in our country are promoting injustice, hate and racial discrimination by mentioning “the CIA, the bloods and the crips and the KKK’’(7-8). The writers also believe that consideration, respect and love for another is the only way we can end discrimination and bring peace to our world.

Moreover, the lyricists went on criticizing the media by saying “the media always shows wrong and negative information”(65-66). In which emphasises corruption and manipulation of our daily media then continue on with this statement “The truth is kept secret and swept under the rug”(43).This point out how the media play with our trust by lying in our faces and destroy the public political and social belief.The artists use “bacteria” to describe how the media has brain watch and control the minds of the young generations.

In addition, to all emotional messages about love and equality, the lyricist wants the audience to also enjoy the song by using melodic and upbeat instruments like the guitar, drums and the flute.For an emotional chorus to chant the word, “where is the love’’ the artist use the choir to establish a deeper and profound connection with the audience. In the pre-chorus, the artists use a more soothing and gentle voice while singing the line “Father, Father, Father help us/Send some guidance from above’’(22). Which shows the writer's frustration and how helpless he feels with all that has been going on in the world by singing this line with intense emotions.Overall the artists use modern types of musical instruments to gather people’s attention while persuading and teaches them about the greatness of love. 

Finally,''Where is the love" by Black Eyed Peas was hits song in the 2000s because his modern sound most importantly the profound message the track sent.The artist speaks about various worldwide issues like racial discrimination, terrorism, war. Throughout the track the artist illustrates his urgent concern about the world. He desperately wants the people around the world to take a stand for a decent future for the rising generations.
