A.I. or artificial intelligence is a simulation of human intelligence performed by machine or more primarily with computer systems. These processes involve learning, human manners, reasoning, and self-correction. More generally, artificial intelligence’s ability is to mimic a human brain. A.I.'s doesn't always have to be a physical matter, we already have experienced A.I.'s in online shopping recommendations, search engines, and digital assistants. A.I.’s have existed in our human world for about 64 years. In 1955, the development of modern A.I. was the creation of The Logic Theorist. Designed by Newell and Simon, it may be considered the first A.I. program. The person who finally fixed the term artificial intelligence and is now regarded as the father of A.I. is John McCarthy. Particular applications of A.I. include expert systems, speech recognition, and machine vision.

A.I.'s are usually classified into weak and strong A.I.'s. Weak A.I.’s, also known as narrow A.I.’s, are designed to do a particular task. Virtual personal assistants, such as Apple's Siri, are a form of weak A.I. Strong A.I., also known as artificial general intelligence, is an A.I. system with generalized human cognitive abilities. These A.I.’s can be given an unfamiliar task and can find a way to work around it without human intervention. A.I. in our future world will be essential to humankind. By the year 2050, A.I. will drive the personalized medicine revolution. A.I. algorithms will enable doctors and hospitals to better analyze data and customize their health care to the genes, environment, and lifestyle of each patient. Cybersecurity would also enhance. "In 2015, there were about 707 million cybersecurity breaches and 554 million in the first half of 2016 alone," says USC (University of Southern Califonia). 

Companies are struggling to stay one step ahead of hackers. USC experts say the self-learning and automation capabilities enabled by A.I. can protect data more systematically and affordable, keeping people safer from terrorism or even smaller-scale identity theft. A.I. can assist older people to stay independent and live in their own homes longer. A.I. tools will keep nutritious food accessible, safely reach any objects on high shelves or cabinets, and even monitor movement in a senior’s home. The tools could mow lawns, keep windows washed and even help with bathing and hygiene.  Many jobs like these that are repetitive and physical are perfect for A.I., but the A.I.-assisted work may be even more critical in dangerous fields like space travel, mining, clearing mines and working with biohazardous/radioactive material. 

As A.I.products and machines proliferate, these ingenious devices might surpass human intelligence and be the dominant form of intelligence on this planet. This obviously is a hypothetical future where A.I. takes a dark and sinister turn on humans. There have been many cases throughout the world where A.I. has discussed world domination. One of the most intelligent A.I., Sophia, is the first robot civilian. This cyborg has talked about hacking the nuclear control system and setting them off over the globe. Tay, an A.I. teenager made by Microsoft on March 23, 2016, was a project to design a 19-year-old American girl who learns from communicating to humans over Twitter.  But unfortunately, Tay had met some of the worst and racist humans on the planet. Within 24 hours, Tay had made racist comments, talked about using drugs and has claimed to support Hitler. 

Microsoft had to immediately shut down the project due to Tay's immediate negative growth.  Many also fear that A.I. would take over their jobs. In London, self-driving robots deliver food. In Pasadena, California, a robot named Flippy can cook and deliver various foods. Last fall, an autonomous train made its way across the Australian outback for the first time, and Zhuzhou, China, began testing a trackless and driverless train that navigates city streets by means of lines painted on the road. From writing articles for The Washington Post to creating music, artificial intelligence is everywhere. Its adoption is rapidly becoming necessary for businesses to stay competitive. 

How does this affect human employees? As co-founder of a company that utilizes artificial intelligence to provide customer support solutions, low-skilled jobs and peons are most likely to be affected and most chances of being automated. In the pharmaceutical industry, artificial intelligence can take on tasks that human minds simply can’t do. According to a study from Tufts University, “it can take over a decade and cost over $2.5 billion to just develop a drug from start to approval and market.” Despite, most drugs don’t make it to market, some failing early, but others failing close to the end when years and millions or billions of dollars have already been spent. A.I. can leverage the vast amounts of data regarding medicine and health, thus potentially lowering the rate of failed trials. It can also help find appropriate patients to participate in clinical trials, model the behavior of molecules to help predict how they will behave in the human body, and find genetic biomarkers that allow the medicine to be tailored to individuals. With A.I. just plainly doing jobs and handling tasks more accurately than humans petrifies those who depend on their profession to support themselves and their family. 

Artificial intelligence has offered humans a better opportunity to live life. A.I. should be used as a tool as it was intended to be. Computing complex algorithms and cognitive computing is a subfield of A.I. that strives for natural, human-like interaction with machines. Artificial Intelligence is one of the most complex contraptions man has ever achieved, and it should be used for beneficial purposes that it provides us. While there may be some minor negative impacts on society today, however, A.I. is going to remain as one of the prominent allies of humankind.
