Free: not under the control or in the power of another; able to act or be done as one wishes. The sensation of freedom is liberating and a privilege to experience. Freedom is something that I desire to feel constantly but yet can’t, due to overbearing school work and grades. The feeling of just leasuiring around and relaxing without the thought of academics flowing throughout my tiresome mind is a fantasy I hope that will be everlasting. The freedom I so strongly dream of is something that I experience only in the summer, a hiatus from stress and education. I want to share my familiarity with freedom and what it means to be free in my perspective.

Freedom is a luxury. People are often imprisoned by their emotional feelings, for example, stress, worries, etc, that affects their freedom because they have something holding them back. It’s difficult for people to feel free when society’s standards are gradually increasing, making it harder for them to meet. On website Psychology Today there is an article called “Imprisoned By Your Life” written by William Berry, its stated that “Many people feel trapped by aspects of their life: trapped in an unhappy relationship, at an unfulfilling job, or generally unhappy with their life despite their basic needs being met.” Ridding of such pressure is when they’ll be free and have a taste of freedom. Freedom does not confine anyone to anyone else’s morals or ideals. There isn’t a constant repress, the ability to do whatever you yearn for, just being who you are and pursuing your passions.

I so ever wish that I can enjoy being free everyday. School has always been the catalyst for my burdens because I despise the feeling of disappointment. During the summer, I feel serene and content. I don’t have to constantly check up on my grades to see if they dropped or not, I don’t have to worry about homework, projects, etc. I’m liberated and not bounded by my emotional conflicts. Although summer brings the burning heat, the high temperature doesn't irritate me as much as my academics. The heavy pressure to get into college placed by my parents and myself weighs me down and

Therefore, freedom and being free is the right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint. To add on, the sensation of being free is a luxury for me and only experience once a in the heatwave. It’s something that I will not take for granted. I strive to be free everyday and not let the strain of education get to me so much.
