What's more important privacy or safety? Without safety, how can there be privacy? The Patriot Act was established after the infamous terrorist attack of September 11, 2001 where a commercial plane was hijacked and driven into the Twin Towers. The Act was used to protect citizens of the U.S, standardizing terrorism as normal criminal injustices. The argument stands that the Patriot Act should be upheld because it has reduced terrorist attacks, caused law enforcement and secret intelligence to become more cooperative, and lead to  continuous updates in the law.

Terrorism is the use of violence upon civilians, there has instances after 9/11 of attack. Also in multiple cities, millions of dollars worth of assets from terrorist activities were frozen or forfeited, directly leading disbandment or dispersal.

Equally important, the Patriot Act caused both law enforcement and secret intelligence to become cooperative. This nation is large, which makes searching for terrorist incredibly difficult, but when the government passed this law it was meant to examine attacks both locally and nationally. The wall that had previously divided the two had crumbled lead to them doing twice as much work. Being able to convict one based on reasonable suspicion is fair, when this country is supposed to provide its people safety which outweighs their need of privacy.

While pledging allegiance to the government, the government gives you nothing, incorrect. The Patriot act gives you peace  knowing wherever you go, you're protected and you'll be able to voice those opinions while living.
