This research paper is primarily written to speak about the effects that global warming has placed upon the Earth’s environment and what the outcome will be if nothing is done to control this dilemma. This written material incorporates deep clarification of the potentiality of the planet reaching to 2 degrees over the next decade and the likelihood of humanity suffering when this happens. It focuses on how us humans are to blame for this danger due our usage of terrible carbon emissions that are polluting our atmosphere, in which, created this global phenomenon. In addition, it is also thoroughly explaining how global warming has been affecting the environment in ways that are raising some serious concerns. Further along in this writing, I, indeed give credible feedback from an interview that I conducted and other plausible facts about climate change. This groundwork that I gathered and developed into substantial research will get people to present to the issue of climate change and how it will hurt our society.
Introduction
My sole purpose of me writing this research paper is to stress to the public that we are in the middle of a global threat that will inevitably cause catastrophic harm to our precious planet. This potential harm is called “climate change.” Climate change is a detriment that is surely affecting our environment in powerful ways. Due to the spike in rising temperatures, caused primarily by the use of fossil fuels and coal, it is sparking havoc weather, droughts in certain parts of the world and affecting both our forests and ocean waters. This problematic issue is expected to only worsen. In 12 years, it is believed by scientists that our global temperature will rise to 2 degrees from it being at 1.5 degrees currently. When this unfortunate occurrence takes place, we will all be doomed. It will take our planet into the stratosphere, making the earth practically unlivable. Us people will have to each make dramatic changes within our current lifestyles that potentially benefit the Earth by slowly lessening the planet’s temperature. If we make small changes the world will see the advantages to doing so.
Tea Production in Sri Lanka is Experiencing an Unforeseeable Decline
Tea production is critical and the primary source to the financial system of Sri Lanka. Due to climatic changes, it is generating skyrocket temperatures, intense rainfall and droughts which has sadly enough become a major disadvantage to Sri Lankan manufacturing of tea and to their overall economy. In 2014, the forecast of Sri Lanka is that they will certainly take a fall in low earning exports. In the article “The impact of changing climate on Perennial Crops: The case of tea production in Sri Lanka”, Gupta claims that there will honestly be a 3.5% deduction, in the manufacturing of tea due to the heavy amount of rain that they are foreseeing to occur in the coming years. Sri Lanka’s divination is that it will experience a 10% extension of both dry and wet seasons by the year of 2070 of the tea plantation (para.2). Current employed tea workers weren’t expecting this troublesome issue.
They are taken aback by this sudden decline of tea not being produced. With climate change on the rise, tea producing areas will be affected in the low, upper and middle parts of Sri Lanka. In the year 2081 through 2090, the production of tea will reduce by 16.2 % to 23.3%, which is quite a big reduction. With the likelihood of this manifesting, there will also be a 4.6% reduction in tea being manufactured in the next 12 years, since our global temperature is expected to rise 1 C degree. Heavy rainfall is one of many climatic natural disasters that is very crucial to the crops of Sri Lanka. (Gupta 2017) Lamentably, extreme rainfall creates solar radiation that is interconnected with cloud that ultimately cover the tender buds that create tea shoots. Gupta is proclaiming that tumultuous weather that’s beginning to take place in Sri Lanka will tremendously affect its tea production. In addition, the constant wet and dry seasons in Sri Lanka will lead to a serious drought if this alternating weather continues (Gupta 2017). Gupta believes that the temperature will reach to approximately 2 degrees by the year of 2045. As exemplified previously, it’s apparent that global warming is hurting our environment in ways in which we didn’t expect. With our global temperature on the rise and the potentiality of it reaching increasing to 1 C degree more, the weather will spin out of control because the primary affects of climate change include much rain and droughts.
Global Warming Taking a Toll on Forestry
Furthermore, climate change is not only affecting food production but is damaging our forests as well. Forests are important and vital to the planet. It helps to balance and manage global temperatures, (St. Laurent 2018). To control the global temperature, our atmospheric conditions must be better managed. St. Laurent prediction matches with that of article, (Gupta 2017) that we will need to expect weather to worsen in the next several of years. It is inevitable that there will be more unimaginable natural disasters. If our global temperature reaches to even a half degree more, we will be in great danger. With rising temperatures, forest will be more prone to forest fires, which is one of many weather events that society has been dealing with during the last few years.
Due to the ongoing crisis of climate change, scientists have been working diligently and effortlessly to develop and adjust forestry to that of climate change. Researchers have been incorporating reforestation methods to strengthen the forest to the best of their ability. The reforestation approach that as been used is “assisted immigration.” This is a big deal in helping the Earth’s warming temperatures. The process of reforestation helps to plant species into different locations so that way it will allow for ecosystems to adapt to the constant changing climate or in other words “climatically suitable for the future.”
It also helps ecosystems that have been pulverized or completely ruined. Species such as “Ponderosa Pine” and “Douglas Fir,” are the tree species that are used to make a grand difference with climate changes. This process not only beneficial to the climate, but it surely does help for natural systems to flourish, (St. Laurent 2018). Certainly, this procedure benefits the climate in amazing ways because it is displacement of invasive species and the adding native species to the forests. Without the help of reforestation, we will be more at a risk of greater atmospheric changes. If we do not change our ways in which benefit our environment in the next decade we will certainly face unprecedented consequences.
Time Is Not on Our Side
Additionally, the International Panel of climate change (IPPC) put out a warning, issuing a recent statement to the public, that climate change must be brought to a complete standstill of 1.5 degrees. If the Earth’s temperature rises to 2 degrees and is not kept this steady temperature of 1.5 degrees, there will be extreme effects on the planet and we will suffer immensely, and no corrections can be made once this takes place. (Xu 2018). Nonetheless, the doubling of the Earth’s temperature will create sicknesses, droughts and heatwaves that will be a detriment to the whole society. Before the year of 2045, the planet will unquestionably climb to 2 degrees. (Xu 2018). Gupta has the exact same opinionated claim as Xu when it comes to the warming of another degree in within the next 15 years.
