Understanding the difference between Marxism and Communism is a reoccurring problem that many people do not grasp. Marxism is founded by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels. This economic system is based on their economic and political theories. These theories embody the labor theory valuable, materialism, the struggle of categories, and also the autarchy of the social class till the institution of an egalitarian society. Marxism dominant feature is public ownership of the means of production, distribution, and exchange. Communism may be an ideology that derived from Marx’s teachings, however, rather than advocating democratic societies and equality for all people. Its political and economic school of thought that aims to switch a profit-based economy and private property with public possession and communal management of a minimum of the key means that of production and therefore the natural resources of a society.

Aimé Fernand David Césaire was a playwright, poet, politician. However, he was the cofounder, with the help of Léopold Sédar Senghor, of negritude which gave him the most exposure to the community.  Negritude is “affirmation that one is black and proud of it”.  After Césaire got most of his education in Paris, he moved back to Martinique and got involved and supported the decolonization of the French colonies in Africa. In 1945 he became mayor of Fort-de-France, he held this position until 2001, in addition, in 1946 Césaire became a deputy for Martinique in the French National Assembly. Soon later, Césaire joined the Communist Party from 1946 to 1956, and his motivating to join came from viewing the predicaments that black people had to face. All in all, this man was a politician, playwright, and poet who influence many authors. Césaire main goal with his platform was to restore the cultural identity of black Africans. He died on April 17, 2008, in Fort-de-France, Martinique after being hospitalized for a heart condition.

Thomas Sankara was known to have a lot of charm and he was very popular. He was the leader of Burkina Faso from 1983 to 1987. When he was in military school as a military officer, Sankara read a lot of Karl Marx. With studying this philosopher, he led a coup that overthrew the government in the colony of Upper Volta. Sankara, struggled to separate himself from France and therefore the capitalist West, renaming the country to Burkina Faso. He mentioned plenty on the subject of the category makeup of the state, subdividing the socio-economic class and therefore the labor into completely different classes and dictating that sets of individuals are helpful for revolution. He conjointly protests against colonialism and imperialism. Sankara had some favorable outcome in revamping Burkina Faso, considerably rising its skill rate and agricultural output. He avoided acceptive aid and usurping giant amounts of debt. Thomas Sankara began suppressing numerous civil society organizations and unions and was killed in 1987 by his best friend who was in the military. As his time as a leader he can be remembered by fighting for equality, communism, youth, and women’s rights.

Claudia Jones got into social activism at a young age when she found an interest in political education. As an adolescent she joined the Young Communist League, which gave her many opportunities to write as a journalist. As she aged got involved in many major movements as well as becoming a Communist. Jones stepped up as the leader to fight for Caribbean independence, liberation in the United States, but mainly African American women’s rights. With Jones platform, she states, many strong and accurate facts like in, An End to the Neglect of the Problems of the Negro Woman “historically, the Negro woman has been the guardian, the protector, of the Negro family”. In this quote she basically exclaims that Black women already have enough on their plates because they have to neuter, provide, and care for the family.

They are basically the main support system in the society to me. They are always responsible for keeping everything together. Claudia Jones gained more and more exposure as she made a stand and supported issues dealing with socialism and oppression. With this she was arrested twice and as she was here in the United States; she never gained her citizenship, so she was deported to England. While there, she gets involved in the hardship that West Indians endure in their community and other oppressed groups. On December 25, 1964, Claudia Jones passed away.
