Chronic diseases, including cancer, cardiovascular diseases, chronic respiratory diseases, type II diabetes, chronic kidney failure and more. These diseases are the leading cause of mortality in our society. These largely preventable diseases affect our quality of life, our economy and our communities. As the population grows and ages as well, the burden imposed by chronic diseases in health care system has become unsustainable. These diseases can be prevented without a doctor prescribing preventive medicine that usually comes with high cost and many more secondary effects on the patient already at risk, but instead by adapting a healthy diet and a change in life style.

Risk Factors for Chronic Disease come from Smoking, Unbalanced Diet and sedentary lifestyle set up at a young age. The most economical, and effective ways to reduce the risk of chronic diseases is the implementation of healthy life style. Chronic diseases and poverty have a direct relation, and constitute a vicious circle. The poorest are also the most likely to be suffering from a chronic illness, because they live in bad conditions, have little access to education, healthcare and proper nutrition. The increasing prevalence of chronic diseases requires rethinking the allocation of resources. So, we can reallocate some of the resources allocated to tertiary care to increase access to prevention of chronic diseases, for example help smoking cessation counseling, wellness program .These type of prevention programs would be very profitable ways to make considerable savings into the extent that they reduce care expensive emergency room cost.

Cardiovascular diseases for example are the main causes of angina, heart attack, stroke and many other disorders which become a threat to life and are commonly called CHF (chronic heart failure). Most of the chronic diseases can be prevented with a change in a diet. a healthier diet and  an eye on your cholesterol level will help to control the blood pressure and maintain the blood sugar stable. By changing our eating habit, we could for example eat a lot of fresh fruit and vegetables, especially green leafy vegetables; they are rich source of minerals. They have a rich supply of sodium, calcium, alkaline organic salts, best source of chlorophyll, and small quantities of the highest grade of protein minerals and vitamin A and C. Natural and fresh fruits contain natural sugars for instant energy, and they contain fibers, vitamins, minerals and enzymes. These elements provide a rich source of calcium phosphorus, sulphur, iron and magnesium.

The vitamin C found in fruits is an infection fighter and protects you against pollutants like lead, mercury and food additives. In addition, the patient has to slow down on dairy products, especially eggs and butter. Avoiding acid forming food like – puddings, fried foods, walnuts, jam, malt, sweeteners, beer, cola, hazelnuts, table salt, ice cream, soybean, beef, hops, soft drinks, processed cheese, lobster, sugar, barely, cottonseed oil and pheasant, we prevent the patient from having an acidic body. The acidic environment in the body causes diseases. In the other hand if one decide to use “Lipitor” which is a prescription medicine that lowers cholesterol in the blood. It lowers the LDL-C ("bad” cholesterol) and triglycerides in your blood. It can raise your HDL-C ("good" cholesterol) as well. This drug come with a lot of side effect that some of than can be very sever such as muscle pain or weakness. This could be a sign of rare but serious muscle problems that can lead to kidney problems, including kidney failure (Harrison C, 2011 n p).

COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Diseases) cannot be prevented by taking prescription drugs. COPD is primarily the result of smoking. Tobacco tolerance vary from one individual to another, but as a rule it takes at least  about 20 pack years to develop measurable disease. Smoking is a learn habit that can be break with individual effort and motivation. Once the habit is break, the disease can be prevented. However, the damage begins the day you start smoking. According to one of CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) report “About 4.9 million middle and high school students were current users (used in the past 30 days) of some type of tobacco product in 2018, up from 3.6 million in 2017. This increase—driven by a surge in e-cigarette use—erased past progress in reducing youth tobacco product use”. With such an alarming number of teenage smoking, as time passes they will become potential COPD patients. Following the same vision of prevention, type II diabetes can be prevented by exercising regularly in order to keep your weight under control (CDC.gov n.p).
