A classic yet suspenseful book that has such a wise character named Atticus. The book is called To Kill A Mockingbird written by Harper Lee. Atticus gives wise and useful information to all, no matter who they are and how they act. Atticus is one of the main characters and is the father of Jem and Scout. Tom Robinson is an innocent black man who is initially charged with the rape of a white woman named Mayella. This book is considered a classic book and an enjoyable read. It does make sense for Atticus to defend Tom Robinson because Atticus is intelligent, and has a long time of experience when it comes to law enforcement.

It does make sense for Atticus to defend Tom Robinson because Atticus is intelligent. In chapter 1 on page 5 of To Kill A Mockingbird written by Harper Lee, the people of Maycomb talk about Atticus in a positive way. They state, “Atticus, the town lawyer, tries to do what is best for his clients, even if they don’t listen to him.” (5) Atticus has the best interest of others at heart. He tries to always do the right decisions no matter what. This proves that Atticus is a great man who is also a great lawyer. He is able to connect with his clients using his great intelligence and continues to prove his case even if he doesn’t listen to his client’s side of the story. In chapter 3 on page 33 of To Kill A Mockingbird written by Harper Lee, Atticus wisely talks to Scout. He states, “You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view […] until you climb into his skin and walk around in it." (33)

This scene illustrates the golden rule because Atticus is telling Scout how to correctly treat people and how this will help her become nicer and have friends. This proves that Atticus knows to be smart about different issues, he needs to see how others feel in their perspective. In other words, Atticus is smart enough to try and think how others feel in there own perspective. In chapter 10 on page 119 of To Kill A Mockingbird written by Harper Lee, Atticus talks to the children about shooting and killing animals such as mockingbirds. He states, “Remember it’s a sin to kill a mockingbird.” Tom Robinson is like a mockingbird in this situation. He is innocent and do not do anything bad inclusion rape. He was “killed” when he was sentenced for raping Mayella. It is a sin for public because the jury during this time period are racist so they think that the “mockingbird” should be “killed”. Overall, it does make sense for Atticus to defend Tom Robinson because he is intelligent enough to help other people out and much more.

It does make sense for Atticus to defend Tom Robinson because Atticus has experience with law enforcement and can stay persistent. In chapter 1 on page 5 of To Kill A Mockingbird written by Harper Lee, other citizens of Maycomb talk about how much experience Atticus has a lawyer and a citizen in Maycomb. They state, “During his first five years in Maycomb, Atticus practiced economy more than Anything;” (5) Atticus is persistent and could stay on one task for a long time. He is able to help other people because of how much experience he has in Maycomb.  Atticus has been in Maycomb for five years and has been persistent throughout this case. He has been prac ting in law and the economy to make him a better lawyer with great experience. In chapter 1 on page 5 of To Kill A Mockingbird written by Harper Lee, more citizens of Maycomb talk positively about Atticus.

They state, “Atticus derived a reasonable income from the law. He liked Maycomb, he was Maycomb County born and bred; he knew his people,” (5) Atticus is a loyal citizen to Maycomb County. He has been has had experience as a lawyer and could help anyone who needs to. He knew everyone and everyone knew him, it seems like the people in Maycomb respect Atticus for what he does and can trust him. This proves that Atticus has experience when it comes to law and overall everything in Maycomb. In chapter 22 on page 246 of To Kill A Mockingbird written by Harper Lee, Miss Maudie talks to Jem about the trial. Atticus is defending Tom Robinson and proving he did not rape Mayella. Miss Maudie tells Jem, “Atticus Finch won’t win, he can’t win, but he’s the only man in these parts who can keep a jury out so long in a case like that.” (246) Atticus and others are doubting him that he won’t win the case for Tom Robinson. Atticus is able to keep going and be persistent until he can prove that Tom is innocent. Most citizens in Maycomb don’t believe that Atticus is able to prove Tom innocent, but Atticus continues to persuade the jury. This quote also proves that Atticus is the only man for this job so he must have a large amount of experience, and he overall continues to be persistent through this case. Overall, it does make sense for Atticus to defend Tom Robinson because has so much of experience with law enforcement and can stay persistent.

It does not make sense for Atticus to defend Tom Robinson because he takes a while to prove a point. Some citizens of Maycomb think that Atticus is different and weird for supporting a black male. During this rape trial, Atticus takes a long time for him to prove a point. This also happens in the earlier stages of the book. Atticus takes quite a while to prove any point he wants to make, this includes when he was defending Tom Robinson in court. In chapter 15 on page 201 of To Kill A Mockingbird written by Harper Lee, Mr. Raymond talks about Atticus to Scout. Scout is able to know more about Atticus based on Mr. Raymond’s perspective of him. He states,  “Miss Jean Louise, you don’t know your pa’s not a run-of-the-mill man, it’ll take a few years for that to sink in—you haven’t seen enough of the world yet.

You haven’t seen this town, but all you gotta do is step back inside the courthouse” (201) Mr. Raymond might mean that Atticus does not follow the rules like other people in Maycomb who discriminated and are racist towards black people. Atticus supports black people though. Mr. Raymond infers that Atticus is different. This proves that Atticus is not like other people in Maycomb, and that even though he takes a long time to prove something, it is worth it in the end. Mr. Raymond gets a good impression from Atticus because of how hard he works, and how he is able to persuade others. This will benefit him to become a good lawyer. Therefore, Atticus may take a long time to prove a point, but he is able to persuade others and he is also likeable to other people who see him as a lawyer. Mr. Raymond also talks to Scout about how Atticus’s specialities is being such a great lawyer. Mr. Raymond says most people will get to know Atticus more in the “courthouse”. Overall, even though Atticus may take a long time to prove any point, he will be smart enough to make it worth it.

It does make sense for Atticus to defend Tom Robinson because Atticus is intelligent, and has a long time of experience when it comes to law enforcement. Atticus is smart enough to persuade the jury in court, and other people who aren’t even jurors. Atticus is able to give good advice to other people with his wise words. He is so wise because he has so much experience in everything. He knows everything about Maycomb and law enforcement. He is able to use brain to persuade other people which is helpful in court. Therefore, he knows how to use his intelligence in his advantage, and since he has so much experience in law enforcements and knows almost everything about Maycomb County, he is a perfect fit to defend Tom Robinson. It is important to understand my view of Atticus because I see Atticus as a wise, and experienced person. He is able to prove so many things that would be difficult to prove. This may explain why he is such a great lawyer and know everything about law enforcement. Being able to see how I see Atticus is important because then you are able to see what a great person he is, and how intelligent he is, and can see how much experience he has as lawyer.
